
UZBEKISTAN SEED DEVELOPMENT CENTER
Officially known in Uzbekistan as Urug‘chilikni rivojlantirish markazi, the Uzbekistan Seed Development Center is a state institution operating to develop, organize, and modernize the national seed system. The institution works in direct connection with agricultural policies and ensures the strategic coordination of the seed production chain.
Core Responsibilities of the Institution
The Center is not merely a research institute; it also functions as an operational management and sector coordination body.
Its main responsibilities include:
✔ Developing the certified seed production system
✔ Organizing regional seed production plans
✔ Multiplying and disseminating domestic varieties
✔ Planning seed cotton (lint seed) and cereal seed reserves
✔ Providing training for farmers and seed producers
In particular, cotton seed production and the establishment of strategic reserves constitute one of the Center’s key field-level roles.
